We consider infiltration into a soil that is assumed to have hydraulic conductivity of the form K = K = Kseh and water content of the form = K – r. Here h denotes capillary pressure head while Ks, , and r represent soil specific parameters. These assumptions linearize the flow equation and permit a closed form solution that displays the roles of all the parameters appearing in the hydraulic function K and . We assume Ks and r to be known. A measurement of diffusivity fixes the product of and resulting in a parameter identification problem for one parameter. We show that this parameter identification problem, in some cases, has a unique solution. We also show that, in some cases, this parameter identification problem can have multiple solutions, or no solution. In addition it is shown that solutions to the parameter identification problem can be very sensitive to small changes in the problem data. 相似文献

The identification of nonlinear aeroelastic systems based on the Volterra theory of nonlinear systems is presented. Recent applications of the theory to problems in computational and experimental aeroelasticity are reviewed. Computational results include the development of computationally efficient reduced-order models (ROMs) using an Euler/Navier–Stokes flow solver and the analytical derivation of Volterra kernels for a nonlinear aeroelastic system. A solution is found to a plane problem for a composite material reinforced with two in-line fibers and subjected to longitudinal compression. The problem formulation is based on the piecewise-homogeneous model and the three-dimensional theory of stability. The non-linear stochastic optimal control of quasi non-integrable Hamiltonian systems for minimizing their first-passage failure is investigated. A controlled quasi non-integrable Hamiltonian system is reduced to an one-dimensional controlled diffusion process of averaged Hamiltonian by using the stochastic averaging method for quasi non-integrable Hamiltonian systems. The dynamical programming equations and their associated boundary and final time conditions for the problems of maximization of reliability and of maximization of mean first-passage time are formulated. The optimal control law is derived from the dynamical programming equations and the control constraints. The dynamical programming equations for maximum reliability problem and for maximum mean first-passage time problem are finalized and their relationships to the backward Kolmogorov equation for the reliability function and the Pontryagin equation for mean first-passage time, respectively, are pointed out.
